Stress is the major factor which causes hindrance in pregnancy. The life that we are bound to lead in the present generation with absolutely no time to ourselves, constantly struggling for ends to meet and taking up more than what we can handle at a time that our fertility is compromised.

But amidst this fast life that we lead there is a way to restore internal balance and that is through yoga. Yoga is a wonderful way to relax and release our minds of stress factors making it possible for us to lead a better life.

While yoga helps to release stress, it also boosts other functionings of the body checking hormonal imbalances so that a healthier body may increase chances of pregnancy by improving fertility.

PASCHIMOTTANASANA OR SEATED FORWARD BEND

BADDHA KONASANA OR BUTTERFLY POSE

There is ample blood supply to the back, pelvis and abdomen. It specifically aids men by contributing to a direct increase in sperm count and it helps women to get rid of irregular menses. If the butterfly pose is practiced till late into the pregnancy then it will also ensure a hassle free delivery.

 

VIPARITA KARANI OR LEGS UP THE WALL POSE

This pose is a pro at removing back aches and increases blood flow to the pelvic region in the body. The Viparita Karani helps in stretching the back of the neck, your torso and the back of your legs so that your feet and tired legs can loosen up. In fact if you stay in this posture after sex for a while then the chances of conception can increase by quite a few notches.

 

BALASNA OR CHILD’S POSE

The child’s pose helps the muscles of the hips, thighs and ankles to be expanded and strenghtened. The Balasana hence aids in the release of tension by calming not only the muscles but also the brain, and it also helps get rid of fatigue along with facilitating better allignment of the pelvis allowing for an increase in blood flow, which is of course important for boosting fertility rate in the body.

 

KAPALBHATI PRANAYAMA OR RHYTHMIC RAPID BREATHING

Balancing your body on your head will instigate hypothalamus to release more hormones and in turn eases the pressure on your heart muscle. This pose however, requires immense concentration. Invert your body balancing yourself on your head and hold the pose for about 5 to 7 seconds as you breathe for effective results.

SUPPORTED SHOULDER STAND.

Quite similar to the above pose this pose is where your shoulders bear the weight of your whole body and you must be able to balance yourself on your shoulders instead of your head. This effects the body differently to a supported head stand. It mainly triggers your thyroid gland increasing blood flow to the uterus after relaxing your plevis. It is crucial that you relax your tongue and throat during this asana.

BRIDGE POSE

This pose is where you lift your pelvic region up while keeping your buttock muscles firm, so that the blood flow gets circulated around the pelvic region and the ovaries. Try to hold this pose for at least 30 seconds before letting loose.

 

COBRA POSE

The Cobra pose not only strenghtens the muscles in your back but also improves blood flow in the uterus, when lying on your back you lift your upper body portion having put your weight on your hands. Then raise the upper body and look up. Try and stay in this pose for about a few seconds as you breathe before you get in the normal state and then repeat.

 

SHAVASANA OR YOGIC SLEEP

Shavasana is a conscious yogic sleep. This is not sleep per se but it is called Yoga Nidra, where you consciously block your mind and meditate, lying down as a corpse. This asana helps in bringing about equilibrium in the body and relaxes the mind in order to stimulate an optimistic approach towards everything. This pose even though may not be directly beneficial for preganancy but it is an important preparatory act as it helps in relxing the mind so that you are able to think and feel in a stressfree manner which should in turn guarantee ample secretion of hormones to restore and maintain balance contributing to a rise in the chances of pregnancy.
