Bollywood actors and their Hollywood foray

Be it our cinema or actors, neither are no longer confined to the Indian sub-continent and audiences. I tell you about the Hollywood debut of some of our legendary Bollywood actors.

Big B’s cameo in ‘The Great Gatsby’

The megastar of Indian cinema finally went global when he agreed to do a cameo in the Leornado DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire starrer ‘The Great Gatsby’. He was seen playing the role of Meyer Wolfsheim, a flamboyant Jewish money lender in Baz Luhrmann remake of the classic. The Indian fans of last millennium’s biggest superstar have waited for decades for him to finally venture into Hollywood. The long wait seems to be finally over as he readies himself to share the Hollywood limelight once again in Shantaram’s next with Johnny Depp.

Aishwarya in ‘Bride and Prejudice’

Often hailed as the most beautiful woman in the world and a former Miss World herself, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan became the true global face of Bollywood. By 2003, she was already walking on the red carpet at the Cannes and endorsing global brands. She upped the ante in 2004, when she made her Hollywood debut in Gurinder Chadha’s ‘Bride and Prejudice’. Despite the film not being a runaway success, she continued to share the screen space in Hollywood with her roles in ‘Pink Panther 2’, ‘Provoked’, ‘The Mistress of Spices’, ‘Bride and Prejudice’ and ‘The Last Legion’.
