Health benefits of Figs

Figs, commonly known as “Anjeer” in Hindi, is a fruit which is believed to do wonders for one’s health and body.

Figs are a bell-shaped fruit that are generally sweet in taste. They are dry and leather-like in texture with wrinkles on its surface. They may vary in shape, size and color. Figs are generally golden brown in color.

Figs are a great source of vitamin B2, vitamin B1 and vitamin A. They also contain good amounts of omega fatty acids and antioxidants. They provide some vital nutrients and minerals, that are not very commonly found in other fruits. Therefore figs have are proven to have great health benefits that are even acknowledged by doctors and nutritionists, worldwide.

  • Reproductive health: Figs are, an age-old remedy to treat sexual weakness or reproductive imbalances in humans. Simply soak 4-5 figs in milk overnight and eat them in the morning to treat any such weakness.

 

  • Weight loss : Dried figs are very potent in facilitating weight loss. One piece of dried fig, provides only 47 calories and 0.4-gram fat. Figs can be mixed with your salad or oats to add a sweeter taste too.

 

  • Health recovery : If anyone is suffering from weakness due to prolonged illness or disease, He or she should be given two pieces of figs everyday. Just soak 2 figs overnight and eat them in the morning next day.

 

  • Improves digestion : Figs are rich in dietary fibres. One fig can provide you about 10 percent of your daily fibre needs. It also behaves as a natural laxative that helps in preventing constipation and irritated bowel syndrome (IBS).

 

  • Acne treatment : Mash around 3 figs (already soaked in water) with your fingers. Mix it with little amount of honey and milk. Make a thick paste and apply on affected area. Let it sit for around 20 minutes and then wash away with help me lukewarm water. This will help you treat the zits and fade any marks, if any.

 

  • Kidney stones : Kidney stones are mostly treated, using ancient herbs and medicinal plants. However figs are a prominent and proven remedy to treat such stones. Just soak 5-6 figs in water overnight and eat them the next morning.

 

Figs have many more benefits such as treating bad mouth odour, provide relief in diabetes, lower body fat levels, treating chicken pox at early stage and anti ageing.
