Why are we supposed to showcase our teeth with a huge grin on our face while taking pictures?

It is because teeth can enhance our smile. It adds a jovial feature to our personality. We must take care of our teeth otherwise bacteria will feed on our enamel making our teeth weak and our gums sore. Before toothpaste was invented, people used natural methods for healthy teeth such as charcoal, meswak stick, ash, baking soda, honey etc. But as we advanced, technology advanced too, and now we have numerous artificial methods to whiten teeth, straighten teeth, clean our teeth and fix a fake one when we’ve lost one! Brush your teeth after every meal or at least twice a day before going to bed and after waking up in the morning. Make sure your toothbrush reaches each tooth not just the frontal ones. Brush for minimum 2 minutes and maximum 5 minutes. Have soft bristles and change your toothbrush every 3 months. Use a fluoride toothpaste. Clean your tongue to prevent bad breath.


If you haven’t started flossing your teeth yet, start doing it today. Floss helps in removing leftovers that is stuck between your teeth. If you don’t floss your teeth, your gums and teeth becomes a breeding ground for plaque.


Avoid eating food that are sticky. Gargle every time after you eat something. Eat high fiber food. Avoid eating too much sugary food items as it will not only cause bacteria but also a lifelong disease called diabetes. Eat fresh fruits and vegetables. Chewing hard food will harm your teeth and call for immediate medical assistance. Similarly, avoid eating citrus rich food such lime and tamarind. Smoking will cause discoloration of teeth bad breath, gum disease and tooth loss.


Visit your dentist every six months. Your dentist will inspect your teeth and tell you how healthy your teeth are. You can ask your dentist to recommend a toothpaste or a mouthwash for you. If you are facing dental problems like bleeding gums or toothache, visit your dentist immediately.


Natural remedies are the best for protecting teeth. You can make use of baking soda to whiten your teeth. Coconut oil and Apple cider vinegar also helps. To cleanse your teeth thoroughly, you can use coal, neem, sage or meswak sticks that people have been using since ages.
