Summer skin care tips

Summer is very challenging. You have to protect your skin the most when the sun is glaring at you directly overhead and sucking H2O from your body. Summer is the time to show some skin but it’s also the time to cover it. Dry skin, dark skin, heat rash, pigmentation, wrinkles, lack of luster in your hair, itchy scalp, and irritation, summer can be so annoying! The following tips will ensure safe skin in summer.

  • Nothing heals like H2O

Keeping yourself hydrated is essential in this hot weather. Drinking lots of water will keep you moisturized. It will keep your skin soft and glowing. While stepping out, keep a small bottle of water in your bag and drink frequently.

  • Exfoliate

Exfoliate at least two times a week. Exfoliation removes dead skin cells and avoids congestion. It will help your makeup last longer.

  • Apply sunscreen

Choose a sunscreen that acts both as a sunscreen as well as a moisturizer. Apply adequate amounts (a teaspoon for the face) 30 minutes before going out. Reapply it every 2 hours.

  • Stay indoors

Stay away from Sun as much as possible. Try to stay indoors during the hottest time of the day that begins at 10am and ends at 3pm. If you step out, wear a wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses to protect yourselves from the sun’s glare.

  • Avoid soft drinks

Instead of aerated drinks, opt for lime juice, coconut water and fruit juice. Aerated drinks contain sugar which isn’t good for the overall health. Also, caffeine and alcohol intake should be minimized as they tend to lower water content of your body.

  • Don’t forget to protect your eyes and lips

Sun exposure causes skin thinning and wrinkles. Apply eye balms and creams to protect your vital organ-eyes. Don’t hesitate to apply and reapply lip balms with adequate SPF to avoid chapped and tanned lips. Check how you could banish those dark circles here.

  • Apply face packs

Homemade face packs for summer are great. To prepare an egg face pack, beat an egg with a few drops of lemon juice and apply it evenly on your face. Keep it for 20 mins and wash off. Likewise, you
can also prepare a tomato pulp face pack with few drops of honey to remove tan from your skin. Keep it for ten minutes before rinsing off with cold water.

  • Use a face wash

Wash your face using a mild face wash to keep your skin away from blemishes and dead skin cells. Look for a papaya-based face wash as it clears pigmentation and reduces wrinkles.
