Rains have always had a name for spoiling special events and romantic dates. But fear not! There are ways to brave the rain to spend a wonderful day with your beloved.
You don’t need to stay at home or go to the movies during a heavy shower any longer because here are a few rainy date ideas to your rescue.
Even if you are unable to have the picnic you planned or the rooftop music festival, you can still plan out dates according to the weather and turn the rains in your favour.
Read on to know how:
ENJOY SOME ART AND CULTURE
Why not visit an art gallery or a museum which at other times may not be the choicest places to be in, on your list?
Let the rain act as the blessing in disguise, spoiling your other amusing plans but creating an opportunity for you to enhance your edifying knowledge.
Take a stroll through the museum and enlighten yourselves with the history and culture of our times.
RAIN IMPOSED SHOPPING
…And each time it has rained while you were out with your beau you thought you wish you had an umbrella or a raincoat, i.e. if you guys love riding around in the bike; now is the time to go to the stores and grab yourselves each a raincoat and umbrellas too if required.
ANY LOCAL BREWERY AROUND DESERVES A VISIT
If you have a brewery around you area then you could go out on an alcohol tasting spree with your boo to any local brewery on a cool rainy day, which otherwise on a hot sunny afternoon doesn’t seem like a good idea given the climactic conditions of our country.
RESORT TO A CAFE WITH A ROMANTIC DECOR
Or you might just want to sit by the window in a café, (with cups of warm hot chocolate in your man’s company) which oversees the wet streets and the all the people getting drenched in the rain – some struggling to keep dry and others enjoying the shower.
GO BACK TO BEING KIDS
You’re never too old to play in the rain. Unleash the child inside you and enjoy the rain with no holds barred. Get drenched, climb up trees, play in the mud or go to a water park and then indulge yourselves in pizza.
Try and reminisce all that you did as kids when it rained and also everything you wanted to do but couldn’t because of parental objection. Go do those things now!
PLAY INDOOR GAMES
Play arcade or pool at a pub with your boo when the weather outside isn’t charming enough for a romantic stroll down the streets. You could also go to one of those game zones that offer a variety of games. But personally I’d prefer playing pool with him by my side showing me how to play pool in between sips of a smooth yummy cocktail. Sounds like a good plan?
ATTEND RANDOM CONCERTS AND EVENTS
Check out for concerts online on websites that post happenings all over town. So you can just go to a random music concert/ contest and other such sort of events when you don’t want to stay at home on a gloomy rainy day.
TAKE A WALK IN THE PARK
Forget everything else, let go of the umbrella and get wet in the rain, hand in hand with your man. Walk in the park under the rain with an ice-cream in your hand for added pleasure!
PLAY MOCK PHOTOGRAPHER
Yes! I’ve always wanted to be shot in the rain, with rain droplets trickling down my body while I pose against a fountain with my hair down, looking up with eyes shut and smiling to myself, my hands stretched out. Oh I could go on with the poses I have in my mind right now! But never had anybody come around with a waterproof camera.
Jokes apart! What you can do however is to get a waterproof cover for your phone and use it to engage in a rain photo shoot. Shoot each other separately and take selfies too, to show off to your friends later on.
Have you ever taken a dip when it’s raining? If you haven’t then you absolutely must give it a shot. It is even better to go swimming when it is raining because the pool then stays comparatively empty.
It is unimaginably curative to the mind and also extremely romantic. Trust me and commit your next rainy day date to the pool.
REMINISCE AND RELIVE PAST INCIDENTS OF YOU BOTH TOGETHER
Sit cosy together and go through pictures from the past of you both together. Take out old greeting cards, letters or whatever you have of the two of you together and go through them. Laugh out and have fun!
CATCH UP ON OLD MOVIES
Download, borrow or rent old classics you have or haven’t seen before. Sit together and binge watch movies like Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Roman Holiday, Pretty Woman, or The Sound of Music!
HAVE A BARBEQUE
If you have a shed in your terrace or in your boo’s terrace then get some wood, coal and fuel to build a fire on the terrace so that you can have a fun barbeque together while enjoying the shower outside.
VISIT AN ICE CREAM FACTORY
Have you ever gone as far as to route the source of your favourite flavours in ice cream? Well, if you haven’t then now is the time to do so. Visit an ice cream factory around the corner and get to know how the stuff is made. Taste different flavours and help this add to one of the unique and uncommon experiences you’ve had so far.
CODDLE IN A BUBBLE BATH
Forget the entertaining outdoor diversions and get together in the tub. Coddle in a warm bubble bath; of course the two of you together. Wash each other up, massage, talk and stare. Ask him to wrap you up while you sip onto glasses of wine.
COOK A SUMPTUOUS MEAL TOGETHER
Go to the supermarket, get whatever you require to cook whatever you wish to during your day in and get to work. Stay at home cooking a luxurious meal in each other’s company followed by a candle lit dinner.
From shopping at the market, to preparing to cook, to actually eating what you have cooked can be a wonderful experience overall.
Skip everything else in the list and head straight to the end of the date to bed. Grant a big thanks to rain to have allowed you to cut down on all the tiring outdoor recreations to settle for the best at the comfort and the warmth of each other. Make a toast to the beautiful wetness pouring outside reflecting the brimming of the passionate flood inside.
