6 Life hacks to stay sane with kids at home!

Looking after kids isn’t an easy task in itself. Think about having to tend to a sick kid, especially when you are by yourself at home and your spouse isn’t available to offer a helping hand. You know you have to be prepared for all sorts of irks and yet comprise tremendous patience.

However even while it is a difficult task indeed to have to look after children on your own especially when they are sick, you can still follow a simple guideline which can make this mission slightly easier for you.

NOURISH AND ENERGIZE YOURSELF WITH HEALTHY FOOD

Eat healthy food to keep positive and energetic while looking after your kids. Avoid processed food and drinks; because they tend to make you sluggish and lethargic so that it becomes extremely tiring to run behind or tend to the little ones. Eat sufficient protein, fruits, nuts, and vegetables and stay well hydrated.

ALLOW THEM SOME ENTERTAINMENT

Your kids may not be grown enough to sit and read a book by themselves, so you could rather switch on the television for your sick child to watch, which will keep them calm and entertained, because sick children often seek more attention from you. So to keep them distracted and entertained by letting them watch television, can be a good idea. Allowing your kids to watch the television occasionally won’t cause much of damage.

GIVE THEM THE LUXURY TO EAT SOMETHING THEY LIKE

At times, giving your little ones what they ask for can keep them pacified for when they are ill and cranky. Let your kid eat cake or chocolate sometimes. Don’t restrict them all the time, especially when they are sick, from what they like and what according to you is unhealthy for them, as long as you balance the junk with healthy compensation. This will add to a feel good sensation in your kids which will keep them happy and calm.

TAKE THEM OUT FOR A WALK OR A DRIVE

You can go for a short stroll with your kid to get some fresh air. However, walks may be tedious when your child is unwell, so what you can do is take your sick kid out for a drive, which will not only be refreshing to your kid but also to you. Fresh air and the sight of greenery can cut out on boredom and enliven both yours and your child’s mood, because when your child is sick, even you most definitely won’t be at your best mood.

THINK OF NEW WAYS TO KEEP THEM OCCUPIED

Watching television after a while can get boring, so you have to look for other ways to keep your sick child occupied and entertained. What you can try is to get them to do similar things as you. Children enjoy imitating their parents at a young age. So let them stick around and pretend to do some exercise with you or let them pretend to help you in the kitchen with cooking and the like. When you treat and let your kids behave like an adult, it not only encourages their imagination but also helps them to learn how to keep their childish emotions in better control.

KEEP THEM FRESH AND COMFY

Give your kid a warm and light bath that will keep them fresh and also make sure not to clad them in uncomfortable clothes. Comfortable clothes that don’t sit tightly against their bodies will make them feel restful and relaxed and brighten up their mood when they are sick.

These are simple tips but are useful. Hopefully they’ll help you get through for a while at the least until you have a helping hand.
