Sunidhi Chauhan – an inspirational singer

Sunidhi Chauhan, the famous singer of the Indian Film Industry was born as ‘Nidhi Chauhan’ on 14th August 1983 in New Delhi, India. She started singing at a very young age of four years when she gave her first performance at a temple. She was discovered by Tabassum who is a famous television personality and anchor in India. Tabassum encouraged Sunidhi to pursue her career in singing which made Sunidhi shift her base in Mumbai. After coming to Mumbai she got the opportunity to be the lead in the troupe known as ‘Little Wonders’. This troupe was organized by Kalyanji, a very famous music director in India.

In the year 1996, Sunidhi participated in a music reality show ‘Meri Aawaj Suno’. She won the show and bagged the opportunity to record a music album with HMV as a part of the prize. Like this, Sunidhi recorded her first album ‘Aira Gaira Nathu Khaira’. Unfortunately, this album did not do wonders for her because it was promoted as an album for children. Later, Sunidhi recorded her first Bollywood song for the film “Shastra”. However, she got recognition only after she gave voice to the song ‘Ruki Ruki Si Zindgi’ for Ram Gopal Verma’s movie ‘Mast’ in the year 1999. The song was composed by Sandeep Chowta. It hit the chartbusters bringing Sunidhi instant fame.

Sunidhi has not looked back since then. She has paired with some of the most famous and talented singers of Bollywood to give in-numerous hits to the Indian Cinema. She has worked with almost all big names in the field of Bollywood music. Her list of music composers include A.R. Rahman, Bappi Lahiri, Nadeem Shravan, Rajesh Roshan, Anu Malik Vishal Shekhar, Shankar Ehsaan Loy, Pritam Chakraborty, Anand Milind,  Jatin Lalit and more. Sunidhi has voiced the top leading ladies of Bollywood starting from Rekha, Aishwarya Rai, Rani Mukherji, Karishma Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra, Preity Zinta, Madhuri Dixit, Kajol, Bipasha Basu, Juhi Chawla, Kareena, Konkona Sen Sharma to Deepika Padukone and more.

She has shown her versatility by giving voice to songs in various languages such as Hindi, Tamil, Punjabi, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Marathi, Telugu, Bhojpuri, and Assamese. She has recorded more than 2,500 songs till now. She has got nominations for the most prestigious awards of Indian Cinema such as Filmfare awards, Star screen awards, Awards of the International Indian Film Academy, Zee Cine Awards, Apsara Awards, Global Indian Film Awards, GIMA Awards, BIG Star Indian Music Awards, Central European Bollywood Awards, Mirchi Awards, Bollywood Movie Awards, Vijay Awards, Bollywood Hungama Surfers Choice Music Awards, Big Star Entertainment Awards and Tarang Housefull Awards as a playback singer and has won many of them.

In all these years, Sunidhi Chauhan has established herself as one of the top singers of the industry. Like all normal women, she has seen ups and downs in her personal and professional life. Sunidhi’s marriage with Bobby Khan in the year 2002, at an early age of nineteen years caused a rift between her and her parents. Her parents were against this marriage and they disowned her after she married Bobby Khan. However, the marriage sustained for only one year and Sunidhi got separated from Bobby Khan legally by filing a divorce in the year 2003.

 

During her separation with Bobby Khan, she lived with her mentor Anu Kapoor a famous TV personality and his wife, as her parents were not in talking terms with her. Later, she reconciled with her parents and gave a fresh start to her life by marrying her childhood friend Hitesh Sonik in the year 2012. Sunidhi’s professional life has also seen a stiff competition from one of the contemporaries Shreya Ghoshal. Despite of the rift in personal life and ups and downs in the professional, Sunidhi has continuously won millions of fans and maintained her position and stardom in the industry and has evolved as an inspiration to all other women.
